The selection process considers criteria such as visibility and economic impact, making these women symbols of resilience, strength, leadership, and excellence on the global stage. Here are the notable Indian women from the 2023 list

Nirmala Sitharaman (Ranked 32nd)

Nirmala Sitharaman, a key figure in India's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has played a crucial role in the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs. Securing the 32nd position, Sitharaman has held significant posts, including Union Corporate Affairs Minister and the 28th Defense Minister of India—only the second woman to hold both positions.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra (Ranked 60)

Roshni Nadar Malhotra, an Indian billionaire and philanthropist, is the Chairperson of HCL Technologies, making history as the first woman to lead a listed IT company in India. In the previous year's Forbes List, Sitharaman held the 36th position. Actively involved in strategic decisions for HCL, she assumed the position of chairperson in 2020.

Soma Mondal (Ranked 70)

Soma Mondal, the current Chairperson of the Steel Authority of India, has made history as the world's first woman in this role since January 2021. Graduating in electrical engineering in 1984, she gained 35 years of experience, eventually becoming the director of SAIL in 2017. Honoured as the CEO of the Year at the ETPrime Women Leadership Awards in 2023, she ranks 70th on the Forbes list.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw (Ranked 76)

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, a prominent Indian billionaire entrepreneur, founded and led Biocon Limited and Biocon Biologics Limited in Bangalore, India. She was the former Chairperson of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and has received numerous accolades, including the Othmer Gold Medal in 2014 for her contributions to science and chemistry.

A notable point is that Nirmala Sitharaman (30th) holds a higher position than several other prominent personalities, including Beyoncé (36th), Rihanna (74th), Donna Langley, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Melinda Gates, and Jane Fraser. Notably, the prestigious list also features global celebrities like U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, Taylor Swift, and others.
