British couple travels across India with newborn, calls Indian Railways ‘Excellent’
Travelling across India with a newborn sounds exhausting to most people. Crowded stations, endless luggage, noisy trains - it’s probably not the first thing new parents dream about two months after having a baby. But for one British couple, the experience turned into an unexpectedly wholesome adventure, and now the internet can’t stop talking about it.
Hazel Lindsey and Martin Bailey, a British couple currently travelling through India with their two-month-old son Alexander, recently shared a viral Instagram video talking about their journey on Indian Railways. And unlike the usual tourist stereotypes people expect online, the couple had nothing but praise for the experience.
In the now-viral clip, they called Indian Railways an “excellent” way to travel between cities and said they were genuinely happy they got to introduce their baby to the experience so early.
“We’ve always adored travelling by Indian railways, so when baby Alexander came along, we knew we wanted him to experience it too,” they shared.
The couple explained that despite travelling with a newborn and what they described as “mountains of luggage,” the train journeys felt surprisingly manageable. They appreciated how easy ticket booking had become through apps and mentioned that elevators and porters at stations made moving around much smoother.
And honestly, the internet especially loved one tiny detail - baby Alexander apparently slept better in India’s chaos than most adults do in silence.
According to Hazel, their son happily napped through tuk-tuk rides, crowded streets, train journeys, and even while they sat down for meals.
“He napped on the go in his carrier, whether in a tuk-tuk or whilst we were eating mutton biryani for dinner,” she said in the video.
But what truly stood out to them wasn’t just the travel experience. It was how warmly people treated their baby everywhere they went.
The couple said strangers constantly stopped to smile at Alexander, say hello, or ask to hold him for a moment - something they seemed completely comfortable with. They also shared how restaurants often brought over baby cribs without even being asked, making dining out much easier for them as new parents.
Calling India “incredibly welcoming” for babies, the couple said the warmth they experienced throughout the trip became one of the most memorable parts of travelling here.
Social media users quickly flooded the comments section with reactions. One person wrote, “It takes a village to raise a child. India is that village.” Another joked that the baby was probably getting “the most culturally rich childhood possible.”
Of course, some users also expressed concern for the mother, pointing out that travelling just two months postpartum can be physically demanding. But overall, the internet seemed genuinely touched by the family’s experience and the way India embraced them during their journey.
And honestly, baby Alexander casually sleeping through Indian traffic, train stations, and biryani dinners might just be the cutest travel flex on the internet right now.
