Hilarious looting and robbery incidents in Pakistan

In a scene that could easily be mistaken for a comedy sketch, a recent police operation in Islamabad took an unexpected twist. The plan was simple: raid a call center suspected of running a massive international scam. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was all set to arrest the culprits and seize critical evidence. But as agents were securing the premises, a group of locals stormed the place, grabbing anything they could get their hands on– computers, monitors, cables– you name it… What was meant to be an important operation quickly turned into a chaotic free-for-all, with some fraudsters slipping away in the confusion. To make things worse, crucial evidence that could have solved the case was taken, leaving investigators with more questions than answers.

This is just the latest in a series of baffling– sometimes downright hilarious– events that keep happening in Pakistan. From unexpected heists to absurd criminal blunders, the country has seen its fair share of bizarre moments that feel straight out of a comedy script. In this article, we take a closer look at this unusual raid and a few other unbelievable incidents that have left people laughing and shaking their heads in disbelief.

Recent call center raid turns into looting

On March 15, a police raid in Islamabad aimed at shutting down a fake call center quickly turned chaotic. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was working to dismantle a scam linked to cross-border fraud. During the operation, 24 individuals, including some foreign nationals, were arrested. However, as authorities focused on securing the site, a crowd of locals stormed in, looting computers, monitors, and other equipment. Within minutes, valuable evidence was taken, and some fraudsters managed to escape. Now, investigators are not only pursuing those behind the scam but also working to track down those who looted the scene and took crucial evidence.

Thieves steal entire mobile tower in Larkana

In a bizarre heist in Larkana, Sindh, in 2024, thieves pulled off an entire mobile tower theft– dismantling it piece by piece. The incident took place in Bhoonbhutpur village, where the culprits used cutters to take apart the tower, along with its iron gate and other parts. Shockingly, the theft went unnoticed despite security guards being present, only coming to light when customers started complaining about signal issues. Investigations revealed that the tower, valued at around Rs2 million, had been out of service for months due to unpaid dues. Police later arrested a scrap dealer and recovered some stolen parts, while suspicion also fell on the security staff.

Looting at Karachi's 'Dream Bazaar' opening

In 2024, the grand opening of a new clothing store in Karachi, Pakistan, quickly turned into chaos and looting. The store, Dream Bazaar, had advertised huge discounts to attract shoppers, but things got out of control when an overwhelming crowd stormed in.

The incident took place in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area. The store opened at 3 p.m., but within just 30 minutes, looters had emptied it. Videos on social media showed clothes scattered across the floor, broken glass everywhere, and people filming themselves taking items. Store employees could only watch helplessly as the crowd ransacked the place.

Police arrived late, later saying they weren’t informed about the situation in time. Two store representatives expressed their disappointment, explaining that this launch was meant to benefit the people of Karachi. They pointed out that investments like this are rare in the city and that such incidents hurt businesses and the community.

Humorous exchange between shopkeeper and robber

In 2021, a robbery in Pakistan became the center of attention after a hilarious exchange between the robber and the shopkeeper went viral. The CCTV footage shows the robber entering the store, picking up items from the shelves, and handing them to a co-conspirator to load into a car. Meanwhile, the shopkeeper starts preparing a bag of cash for the robber without being asked. When the robber asks for larger notes, the shopkeeper replies humorously that he doesn’t have any because he hasn’t made any sales that day. The conversation takes a funny turn when the robber, acknowledging his own tough situation, and the shopkeeper casually tell him, “Fir se mat aana bhai” (Don’t come back again). The robber politely agrees, saying, “Inshallah fir nahi aayenge” (God willing, I won’t come back).
