Most disappointing Tollywood movies in 2016

While 2016 was a great year for Tollywood with small films making it big and big-budget films giving priority to content, some movies killed the buzz of it. And incidentally most of them were also considered the most-awaited in that year. Here’s a round up of the films.

2/11

Brahmotsavam

For all the promotion that the film was given, Brahmotsavam was a disaster at the BO and also amongst the fans. The biggest complaint being the film had no real plot line to follow rather than just the overly sanskaari family get togethers. The film was a fail both in terms of revenues and reviews.

3/11

Sardaar Gabbar Singh

Sardaar Gabbar Singh

This one is the counterpart of Brahmotsavam for the Pawan Kalyan fans. While the first part of this film was a massive hit, this one failed miserably to impress. Not just because of the weak screenplay, direction and script but also because it was an unsatisfactory fix for the Power Star fans.
4/11

Run

Run

The remake of the Malayalam hit, Neram, was a disappointment when it hit the Telugu screens. It failed to make the impact that the original had made both in terms of the cast and the execution.
5/11

Okka Ammayi Thappa

Okka Ammayi Tappa

Another of Sundeep Kishan’s films which gave immense hopes because of its interesting plotline — a ticking time bomb on a jammed flyover — fell flat on screen. All because the makers thought the commercial formula was more important that a plotline.
6/11

Oka Manasu

Oka Manasu

Niharika’s big debut in Tollywood, Oka Manasu was the talk of the town. Aesthetically the film was much-talked about but it didnt fare well at the box office and neither did Niharika’s fans think much about the film.
7/11

Thikka

Thikka

Sai Dharam Tej’s Thikka started off with a bang. What with thoe explosive posters, hit music and intriguing trailer. However when it hit the screens it didn’t work. So much for SDTs hit streak.
8/11

Hyper

Hyper

After Nenu Shailaja, Ram looked like he finally broke out of his typecast role of a hyper young guy who fights, loves and jokes over-enthusiastically. But Hyper brought that back and the audiences didn’t take it well.
9/11

ISM

ISM

Looking at Kalyan Ram’s makeover everyone thought, ‘Yes! Finally Puri is back!” Although he impressed with Temper earlier, Puri didnt have much to show for himself besides that. And ISM didnt help with its oh-so-beaten down formula.
10/11

Nayaki

Nayaki

The supposed comeback of Trisha, who ruled the roost a decade ago made waves with the first look and teaser of the film. But the impact that they had created was no match to what hit the screens later. It was bashed by both fans and critics alike.
11/11

Babu Bangaram

Babu Bangaram

When Venkatesh said, “Ayyo ayyo ayyayyoooo” in the trailer of the film, Telugu audiences expected Venkatesh’s best as a comedian — the likes of Bobbili Raja — to show up on screen. And of course his amazing pair up with Nayanathara... what could go wrong! Apparently everything. The film bombed.
