, starring Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty, was released on Wednesday.

Sharing the teaser, Krithi wrote, “It’s outtt. Hope the teaser reaches the depths of your hearts #UppenaTeaser.” (sic) The 1-minute-24-seconds long teaser shows off the amazing chemistry between Vaisshnav and Krithi’s characters as he keeps pining after her and she returns his affections. Set in coastal Andhra with the sea seemingly playing a major part of their story, the love story looks heart-touching. In the film, Vaisshnav plays Aasi while Krithi plays Sangeetha. The filmmakers also promise that a

release date

will be announced soon.


Uppena will also see Vijay Sethupathi in a key role even if he’s not seen in the teaser. His look from the film was released earlier and met with good response. With music by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Shamdar, the film is produced by Sukumar Writings and Mythri Movie Makers. The film was announced in January 2019 and is the launch vehicle of Sai Dharam Tej’s brother Vaisshnav. The director is a former associate of director Sukumar.

Filming for the film resumed in May 2019 and Vijay Sethupathi joined sets in August that year. The film was supposed to hit screens in 2020 but release was pushed due to the pandemic. DSP already released the song Nee Kannu Neeli Samudram, which has been received well. Further details are awaited.
