'Uppena' director Buchi Babu thanks mentor Sukumar ahead of receiving the National Award!

As Telugu film 'Uppena' receives the Best Film Award at the 69th National Film Award, director Buchi Babu Sana thanked his mentor Sukumar. Before receiving the award from President Draupadi Murmu, Buchi Babu, speaking to the media, said that he was happy to receive the National Award and noted that he wanted to thank his teacher and mentor, Sukumar. He also thanked the actors and producers of his film.

Uppena, directed by Buchi Babu Sana was released in 2021, and the movie is a romantic love story starring Vaisshnav Tej, Krithi Shetty, and Vijay Sethupathi in important roles. The rest of the film's cast included Sai Chand, Priya Gauatri Jayaraman, Ravi Varma, and Jai Krishna, among others. The music for the movie was composed by Devi Sri Prasad, and the film was co-produced by director Sukumar's home banner.

Apart from 'Uppena', Telugu film 'RRR' bagged six awards at the National Film Awards 2023 for Best Male Playback (Singer), Best Film For Wholesome Entertainment, Best Action Direction Award, Best Choreography, Best Special Effects, and Best Music Direction Award. Actor Allu Arjun also received the Best Actor Award for 'Pushpa: The Rise' directed by Sukumar.
