Tabu completes 30 years in Tollywood; revisiting her best works

As Tabu completes three decades in Tollywood, here are some of her best works since her debut.

Tabu, born as Tabassum Fatima Hashmi, made her Tollywood debut with the 1992 film Cooli No 1, opposite victory Venkatesh. Directed by K Raghavendra Rao, the romantic action entertainer was a blockbuster hit, and Tabu received huge appreciation from the Telugu film industry for her promising acting in the film. Since then, the actress has taken up several films in various languages making him an actor with a national fandom. Incidentally, the actress completed 30 years in the Telugu film industry today. As Tabu completes decades in Tollywood, here are some of her best works since her debut.

Prema Desam

The 1996 movie Prema Desam earned both critical and commercial success, and Tabu was apt in the role of a subtle and ambiguous woman. Even Vineeth and Abbas aced their roles perfectly, but Tabu’s performance remained rather remarkable. Her role as Divya was much appreciated, and the film turned out to be a superhit at the box office. Each song of the film is a superhit. The song "Mustafatu" continues to be a favourite across generations.

Ninne Pelladata

Tabu got all eyes on her after her breakthrough performance in Ninne Pelladata (1996). The film took off well due to various reasons, including its music and promotions, and she delivered on the role beautifully. She played Mahalakshmi in this family entertainer for which she won Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Her sizzling chemistry with Akkineni Nagarjuna in the film remains etched in the songs and romantic scenes.

Aavida Maa Aavide

The 1998 film saw Tabu play a cop named Archana while Akkineni Nagarjuna essayed her husband. The film received a lukewarm response but Tabu’s acting skills were much appreciated. However, this EVV Satyanarayanamovie was a decent hit as far as the music is concerned. Nag and Tabu’s on-screen chemistry is one of the highlights of the film and we have seen it throughout the film. Aavida Maa Aavideis certainly one of the most entertaining love triangles in Tollywood.

Chennakesava Reddy

Chennakesava Reddy features Nandamuri Balakrishna, Tabu and Shriya Saran in main roles. In the VV Vinayak directorial film, Balakrishna played two roles, father and son, and Tabu essayed the wife of Chennakesava Reddy. It was an emotional, faction film, where Tabu was absolutely brilliant in her scenes as a woman married to a kind-hearted factionist. The on-screen chemistry the stars share is just wow!

Pandurangadu

It was a biographical film directed by K Raghavendra Rao. Tabu essayed the role of Amrutha, a bold young dancer in the film with great elan and has been nominated Nominated Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress Telugu. Besides acting, Tabu recorded songs for this movie and added an extra dose of oomph to the screens. She flaunts her sizzling dance moves and flawless beauty in the songs opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna.
