South OTT releases to watch this week

This week’s OTT releases bring a fresh wave of content across Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam languages and these films and shows span across genres like thriller, drama, action, mystery, and comedy, catering to a wide audience with different tastes.

'DNA' premiered on JioCinema on July 19. It stars Atharvaa and Nimisha Sajayan in lead roles. The film revolves around a couple who discover that their child might have been exchanged at birth in a hospital. As they dig deeper, they uncover a dark and disturbing medical conspiracy.

'Asthra' is a Malayalam crime thriller that was released on Manorama Max on July 18, 2025. The story begins after two murders take place in Wayanad, and the only clue left behind by the suspects is a bloody arrow symbol, known as "Asthra". The trailer suggests that the film will have intense scenes and gripping action.

'Kuberaa' is one of the big releases of the week, streaming on Prime Video starting July 18. This crime thriller stars Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nagarjuna, this film follows a gripping story filled with action and emotional moments. It is available in Tamil and Telugu, and also dubbed in Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. Kuberaa is expected to attract a large audience because of its star cast and high production value.

Courtroom-based drama,'Sattamum Needhiyum' also released on ZEE5 on July 18. This film focuses on law, justice, and personal struggles faced by people in the courtroom. With intense performances and thought-provoking scenes, it brings the legal system into the spotlight.

'Detective Ujjwalan' began streaming on Netflix from July 11. The film stars Dhyan Sreenivasan as Ujjwalan, a part-time librarian who also works as an amateur detective in his small village called Plaachikkaavu and the story takes a turn when a mysterious serial killer, known as the Boogeyman, begins targeting villagers at night. Ujjwalan teams up with police officers CI Shambhu and SI Sachin to solve the case. It is also part of a larger cinematic universe that began with Minnal Murali.
