Ravi Teja completes 19 years in Telugu cinema

Actor Ravi Teja, popularly referred to as the Mass Maha Raja of Tollywood, has reached heights of stardom and enjoys a huge, crazy fan following. Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja, completes nineteen years in the Telugu film industry today. It’s something remarkable to complete 19 years in the competitive industry and to stay convincingly at the top. Achieving this stardom is a herculean task and actor Ravi Teja is one of the very few to achieve this. Ravi Teja has earned himself a huge fan base from these years.

Acting debut

Ravi Teja began his acting career with a Kannada remake of ‘Anukusam’ titled ‘Abhimanyu’ in 1990 in a small role. He might have had a supporting role but he portrayed his role with much confidence. The film starred actors V Ravichandran, Ananth Nag and Seetha in the lead roles. Since then, Ravi Teja has experimented with various roles; an angry young man, a lover boy, mass hero, action hero and a sincere cop too, and he wooed fans each time he came on screen.

Huge appreciation and the limelight

After receiving huge appreciation for his role in the 1997 action thriller ‘Sindhooram’, he had been approached for such kind of roles in films. He has given an excellent performance in the film where he played Chanti, an educated villager who turns into a Naxalite. The film brought huge fame to the actor Ravi Teja. The movie was directed by Krishna Vamsi and starred Sanghavi, Brahmaji and Bhanu Chander in the lead roles.

Leading debut

‘Nee Kosam’ marked Ravi Teja’s debut in a lead role and brought him his first success too. He played an orphan named Ravi, who falls in love with a traditional and sensitive girl Sasirekha whose father is strict and disciplinarian. He won the Nandi Special Jury Award for his performance in the film and it was one of his biggest achievements till date. The title song in the film, ‘Nee Kosam’ went on to become extremely popular and it is very nice to listen always to spice up your mood.

First commercial success

‘Itlu Sravani Subramanyam’ gave the first commercial success to the actor. The love-struck boy Subramanyam garnered attention from everyone. The subtle story between Sravani and Subramanyam made the film run in theatres for hundred days. The movie is directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by K Venugopal Reddy. The film also stars Ananth Babu, Annapoorna, Tanikella Bharani, LB Sriram, Kalpana Rai, Uttej, Gundu Sudarshan, Chinna, Jeeva, and others. Late music director Chakri had delivered a blockbuster music album.

First blockbuster

Considered as one of the best hits in Tollywood, ‘Idiot’ starred Ravi Teja, Rakshita in the lead roles, while Prakash Raj, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Jeeva, Ali, and Srinivasa Reddy in supporting roles. Playing the romantic hero in this Puri Jagannadh directorial, Ravi Teja became an overnight heartthrob and his character of Chanti was loved by everyone. This was the first blockbuster in the career of Ravi Teja and he followed it up with several super hit films.

First multistarrer

‘Khadgam’, which was directed by Krishna Vamsi, starred Ravi Teja, Prakash Raj and Srikanth in the lead roles. The patriotic film brought everyone’s attention to Ravi Teja’s cine avatar, which in a way with his famous dialogue, ‘Okka Chance Oke Okka Chance’ in the film. The song ‘Govinda Govinda’, where Ravi Teja prayed to the Gods to achieve desires, made his fans go crazy. The film revolves around the disputes between Indian and Pakistan and, Hindu Vs Muslims.
