​'Peddi', 'Parimala And Co' to 'Varavu': Most awaited South films releasing this week


The opening week of June is bringing an interesting mix of theatrical releases for South cinema audiences. Several films from different industries are preparing to arrive on the big screen over the coming days. ​'Peddi'


Peddi arrives as a sports action drama centered around a young man trying to build his own identity. The film follows a village youngster who possesses strong abilities in cricket, wrestling, and running. He uses his skills while facing personal struggles and everyday challenges. Set in rural Andhra Pradesh during the 1980s, the story also explores themes connected to social identity and community struggles. The narrative follows a young villager who attempts to unite his marginalized group through sports and challenge powerful rivals standing against them. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film features Boman Irani, Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu and Divyenndu in important roles. 'Peddi' is scheduled to release in theatres on June 4.

​'Parimala And Co'


'Parimala and Co' enters theatres as a dark comedy packed with family drama and unusual situations. The story revolves around a dysfunctional family that suddenly finds itself dealing with serious complications. As tensions rise inside the household, emotional situations slowly begin taking unexpected turns. The film combines absurd moments with underlying family conflicts. The central plot follows family members trying to continue normal life after becoming connected to a murder case. Directed by Pandiraaj, the Tamil film stars Jayaram, Urvashi, Sanjana Krishnamurthy and Anathika Sanilkumar. The film is scheduled to reach theatres on June 5, 2026.

'Mollywood Times' explores a story closely linked with filmmaking and media culture. The film follows a young man who dreams of becoming one of Malayalam cinema's leading horror directors. Alongside his story, the film also examines the world of filmmakers and journalists operating inside a rapidly changing industry. 'Varavu' brings action and thriller elements into this week's release slate. Directed by Shaji Kailas, the Malayalam film features Joju George in the lead role alongside Vani Vishwanath. The story takes place in a hillside town in Kerala and revolves around Polachan's difficult journey after a past event changes several lives. As long-hidden truths gradually begin surfacing, his search for answers also turns into a mission driven by revenge. 'Varavu' combines mystery and action elements and is currently set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 12, 2026.
