Actor-turned-producer Vishnu Manchu is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited mythological epic, Kannappa, on June 27, and the actor has been busy promoting the movie over the past few weeks. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Vishnu shared his wish to do a sequel to his 2007 hit movie Dhee, and the revelation left his fans thrilled. There are many sequels fans are eagerly waiting for from Tollywood, as the first parts of these films became blockbuster hits. Here’s a look at five of the most eagerly awaited sequels from the industry.

Jr NTR’s 'Devara: Part 1', which hit theatres in 2024 and was directed by Koratala Siva, is all set to bring back a promising sequel for fans and audiences. The movie featured Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, and Shine Tom Chacko in key roles. The first part earned around Rs 344 crores globally, according to reports from Sacnilk.

The makers have confirmed an official sequel to Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD after its overwhelming success at the box office. The movie became one of the most celebrated ventures due to its star-studded cast, including Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan. Producer Ashwini Dutt revealed that nearly 35% of the sequel has already been shot during the earlier schedule. Director Nag Ashwin also confirmed that the movie will be made on a much grander scale compared to the prequel.

Prabhas is also returning for the second part of Salaar, titled Shouryaanga Parvam. The sequel was hinted at in the post-credits of Salaar: Ceasefire, and the production team has officially confirmed its development. The makers are targeting a 2026 release. Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has also confirmed his return for the sequel. The prequel featured Shruti Haasan in a key role alongside Prabhas.

Pushpa 2: The Rule made waves in theatres, and the makers have already announced a third part, titled Pushpa 3: The Rampage. Directed by Sukumar, it is expected to grace theatres in 2028. Allu Arjun is expected to return to the role of Pushpa Raj after completing his ongoing projects with directors Atlee and Trivikram Srinivas. The previous two parts became blockbuster hits, while Allu Arjun won the National Award for Best Actor for Pushpa: The Rise.

Director Prasanth Varma made headlines with his blockbuster hit movie Hanu-Man, starring Teja Sajja in the lead role last year, and the director has now announced a sequel to the mythological saga. The sequel, Jai Hanuman, will feature Rishab Shetty in the lead role. It promises a high-octane blend of mythology, action, and visual spectacle.
