5 South Indian actresses who have altered their religion for love before Marriage

'Love' is one word that has a very deeper meaning and has no barriers such as region, religion, caste, creed, colour, language, and other things. The same has been proved time and again at every stage and walk of life everywhere. The same is the case with a few Indian film celebs as well. Below is a list of a few south Indian film actresses who have either legally converted their religion before marriage, for the sake of their profession or married a person of different faith and followed its traditions without much thought to it. ​Jyothika

Jyothika who has entertained in superhit Telugu movies like 'Tagore', 'Mass' and 'Shock' was born as Sadanah to a Punjabi father and Muslim Mother and is of mixed faith. Actress Nagma is her half-sister who identifies herself as a Christian. While Jyothika married Tamil actor Suriya as per the Hindu traditions though no information about her legal conversion. The happy couple named their two children as Dev and Diya.

​Ayesha Takia

Ayesha Takia, the super girl of Tollywood who has starred in Nagarjuna Akkineni's film 'Super' under the direction of Puri Jagannadh was of mixed faith. Just like actress Nagma, Ayesha Takia too was born to interfaith parents, where her father is a Gujarati Hindu while her mother is a Kashmiri Muslim and Ayesha upon marrying a Muslim restaurateur Farhan Azmi (The son of Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi), has reportedly converted to fully Islam and named their son as Mikail Azmi.

​Khushbu Sundar

Khushbu Sundar who made her South film debut with Victory Venkatesh's 1986 film 'Kaliyuga Pandavulu' was born into a Muslim family as Nakhat Khan in Mumbai Maharastra. However, before getting married to Sundar. C she followed Hindu rituals and added her husband's name Sundar to her name. The film couple also named their kids as Avantika and Anandita and she is currently serving the 'Bharatiya Janta Party of Tamil Nadu.

​Hema Malini

Actress Hema Malini, who has acted in Balakrishna's 'Gautamiputra Satakarini' is a Hindu Tamil Iyengar Brahmin by birth and has reportedly converted to Islam and tied a knot in a secret ceremony at Khandala, as Dharmendra's first wife refused to divorce him. Hemamalini and Dharmendra have two children namely Esha Deol (1981) and Ahana Deol (1985). Esha has acted in a south film 'Yuva' under Maniratnam's direction.

​Nayanthara

Nayanthara was reportedly born and brought up as a Christian child but she embraced Hinduism on 7th August 2011 at Arya Samaj in Chennai and has gone through all the rituals such as ‘Shuddhi Karma’ as per Vedas and received a conversion certificate to Hinduism. She has also played the role of ‘Sita’ alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna as Rama in Bapu’s ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’. She is now marrying a Hindu Tamil filmmaker Vignesh Shivn after being in a relationship for so long.

Still, there are a few actresses such as Monica and film celebs such as Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has converted his religion to Islam and got married for the third time to a new girl named Zafroon Nisa.

It is not conversion out of faith. It is conversion for convenience as Islam allows multiple marriages for a single man. As long as Indian administrators don't amend laws to protect and preserve Hinduism, nehru's trick to destroy Hinduism and enable Islam to take over the country cannot be stopped.
