SIIMA 2015 nominations: Best Director

Pa Ranjith: Madras
With superstar Rajini's film in his kitty, Ranjith has now joined the big league of directors in his third film itself. Madras was a critically acclaimed film for its making and realistic dialogues. Ranjith has portrayed the life of north Madras in its true colour. Whetehr it is love, friendship or revenge Ranjith brought out some intense in all these. Two sides fighting for a wall-- Ranjith has handled this simple story with an interesting treatment which was well appreciated.

SIIMA 2015 nominations: Best Director

AR Murugadoss: Kaththi
Kaththi saw Vijay in dual roles and also Vijay in a all new avatar. The film had everything that a mass entertainer should have and at the same time the director had managed to retain his style of making. The film had an in-depth story which usually will be missing in a normal commercial entertainer. The director didn't disappoint the audience and also gave a social message in his inimitable style.

SIIMA 2015 nominations: Best Director

Vijay Milton: Goli Soda
Despite the familiar storyline, Vijay Milton's script was interesting and at times unpredictable. Milton has portrayed young actors with mass hero attitudes, which was a different approach. The film was nominated for most of the international film festivals. The film was much appreciated for splendid performances by the young boys.

SIIMA 2015 nominations: Best Director

Karthik Subbaraj: Jigarthanda
Jigarthanda turned out to be a cult film in Tamil cinema. New story with unpredictable screenplay, Karthik left the audience clueless. The film was equally classy and massy and critics say that no other director has told the story of a don in a way that Karthik has narrated.

SIIMA 2015 nominations: Best Director

Vijay: Saivam
Using a one-line that is perfect short film material, Vijay has created a two-hour-long feel-good film, which is part humorous and part sentimental but never delves into melodrama. It is no surprise that Saivam is Vijay's best — not to mention, his most original — film yet.
