Vijay Antony to Sam CS: Kollywood music directors who are celebrated less

Tamil movie industry is one among the film industries that gives enough preference to music as much as it is given to the story and script of the film. The Kollywood comprises of Oscar Award winner to National Award winners; and their compositions are always critically acclaimed. Though the movie industry also has very talented music directors who give the best of best compositopns, a few are underrated and less celebrated.

Karthik Raja, son of maestro Ilaiyaraaja started his career as a background music scorer and then moved into compositions. He has composed the songs for 'Kadhala Kadhala' and 'Dum Dum Dum' and the entire album of the films were blockbusters. However, in comparison, Karthik Raja is not celebrated much for his talent like his brother Yuvan Shankar Raja. He had taken a huge gap from the film industry, and has now reportedly signed up for 11 new films.

GV Prakash started his music career when young and has given multiple hits. The national award music composer is celebrated less in the Tamil film industry. His compositions to name a few - 'Veyil', 'Polladhavan', 'Madrasapattinam', 'Aayirathil Oruvan', 'Mayakkam Enna' are all blockbusters and even today there are music lovers who never forget to listen to his compositions. GV Prakash is also one among the music directors who is well versed in composing music for periodic films like 'Madraspattinam' and has succeeded in it.

Sam CS started music composition in 2010 but his fame grew after 2017 when he composed for the film 'Vikram Vedha'. Following that he composed music for blockbuster films like 'Nota' and 'Kaidhi'. Sam CS is one of the underrated artists in Kollywood. The director in one of his interview reportedly stated that even his son asked him to compose music like Anirudh Ravichander, for which the composer replied that he has in own style and is much different. Sam CS is now one of the busiest music composers and has signed up for nearly more than 20 films.

Vijay Antony started his music career in 2005 with the film 'Sukran'. Though movie was not a commercial hit, the songs 'Suppose' and 'Paal Ice' were blockbusters and it created a huge opening for him in Tamil film industry. However, his fame increased in 2008 after composing 'Nakka Mukka' song. He is the first Indian to win the Cannes Golden Lion Award. Vijay Antony has a separate cult fan following. The music director's composition are celebrated today and his fans enjoy him the best.
