Vijay has joined hands with director
Vamshi Paidipally for 'Varisu' and the film was initially planned to be made as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. But the makers then changed plans, and the film has been made like Vijay's usual Tamil films, which will also have a simultaneous dubbed release in Telugu.
Reported to be an emotional family drama, Vijay will be playing the role of a travel photographer, who turns into a businessman to establish his father's business.
Sarathkumar plays the role of a multi-millionaire and Vijay's father, while Jaya Sudha plays the lead actor's mother.
Rashmika Mandanna is playing the leading lady to pair up for the first time with Vijay. Shaam and Telugu actor Srikanth will be essaying the role of Vijay's brothers, and it's going to be a battle of brothers to own their father's business. Prakash Raj plays the baddie to trouble Vijay on his mission on leading his father's business, and the film will have a perfect mix of comedy, romance, sentiment, and action sequences.
Thaman has scored the music for 'Varisu', and the composer has delivered 5 different songs for his first union with Vijay. The composer also reportedly has a surprise track to unveil on big screens, and he is set to rock with his music for the film. Karthik Palani has handled the camera, and his visuals are going to make the film more lovable like he earlier did with the film's trailer. 'Varisu' has been reportedly made on a budget of Rs 200 crores, while the makers have spent almost half of the budget on Vijay's salary. However, the film has reportedly done a pre-release business of Rs 295 crores and the makers are already in the profit zone.
'Varisu' has been censored 'U' with no cuts and the film will be having a runtime of 2 hours and 50 minutes. It's U for Vijay's film after 5 years, and the actor is expected to impress fans with his all-round performance. 'Varisu' will be released across the globe on January 11, while the dubbed Telugu version will arrive in theatres a few days later on January 14. The box office battle is on since Vijay's 'Varisu' will be clashing with Ajith's 'Thunivu', and Telugu films Chiranjeevi's 'Walter Veeraiya', and Nandamuri Balakrishna's 'Veera Simha Reddy'.
'Varisu' and 'Thunivu' got equal screens in
Tamil Nadu, while Vijay's film dominates the overseas market with more screens than Ajith's film. The Telugu version of 'Varisu', 'Vaarasudu' will start to occupy more screens from January 14 and we have to wait to see how the box office numbers of 'Varisu' is going to be.
