Times when Karan Johar associated with Tamil cinema

Bollywood director and producer Karan Johar turns 50 today. Wishing him on his birthday, May 25, many film fraternities took to their social media to wish the director. The director is hosting a private party for his friends from the film industry in Mumbai today and it will be nothing less of a red-carpet event. Actor Vijay Devarakonda and Rashmika Mandanna will also be attending the party. Though Karan Johar has worked only with Bollywood, his name has shined through South as well especially with his reality show. ​Wanted to direct Vikram

In an interview in 2018, Karan Johar reportedly stated that he likes actor Vikram and said that he would like to cast him in a Tamil cinema and direct it. He added that Vikram has got something about him and the film will be good in Tamil with him as the lead.

After Vijay’s ‘Bigil’ release in theatres, Karan Johar praised Atlee for directing a good film. He took to social media and stated that Atlee is a superstar director. His tweet read, “What an absolute festive joy #BIGIL is!! A roller coaster of emotions, triumph and an unparalleled adrenalin rush! #ThalapathyVijay is in top form and makes you want to whistle all along! ​Acquired rights of Malayalam film remake in Tamil

Karan Johar reportedly acquired the rights of Malayalam film ‘Hridayam’ to remake in Tamil and Telugu. Taking to Twitter he stated that the coming-of-age-love story will be remade in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. He wrote, “I am so delighted and honoured to share this news with you. We have acquired the rights to a beautiful film #Hridayam to be remade in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu – all the way from the South, the world of Malayalam cinema.”

​Acquired remake rights of Tamil film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’

Maari Selvaraj’s ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ was critically acclaimed all over the country. Karan Johar reportedly acquired the remake rights of the film in Hindi. ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ is the first Tamil film that the Bollywood director has acquired to remake. The director has earlier acquired rights to many other language films, but ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ marks the first Tamil film that Karan Johar acquired remake rights of.
