'Thug Life’ audio launch highlights: Everything you need to know about the electrifying event

The audio launch of 'Thug Life,' featuring Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan (STR), was held in Chennai with much fanfare. The event marked the release of nine songs from the highly anticipated film. Apart from the core team, Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar also graced the stage. The evening kicked off with composer A.R. Rahman performed the first song live, drawing huge applause from the crowd. Later, AR Rahman revealed that "Vinveli Nayaka" was his personal favorite from the album. Shiva Rajkumar impressed the audience by speaking in Tamil and expressing his admiration for Kamal Haasan.

Poetic tributes and powerful collaborations

Veteran actor Nassar stated that 'Thug Life' would exceed expectations and satisfy fans across the board. Actress Abhirami, who also participated in the event, paid poetic tribute to director Mani Ratnam, music director A.R. Rahman, and Kamal Haasan. She even sang “Unna Vida,” a song from Kamal Haasan’s earlier film 'Virumaandi,' in which she played a prominent role. Actress Trisha, who stars in 'Thug Life,' shared her joy about collaborating with both Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan, calling the experience fulfilling and memorable. Trisha also reacted to fans' theories on the 2-minute trailer and assured them they would be surprised by the film.

STR’s emotional speech wins hearts

Actor Silambarasan delivered one of the most heartfelt speeches of the night. He thanked A.R. Rahman for supporting him during the controversial "Beep Song" phase and said that Rahman’s encouragement allowed him to sing over 150 songs across different languages. While thanking his parents on stage, Silambarasan became emotional, his voice trembling with gratitude. He also spoke about a pivotal scene in 'Thug Life,' where he had to grab Kamal Haasan by the neck. He admitted to doing it for real during the shoot and expressed regret for it.

Kamal Haasan talks cinema, politics, and self-reliance

Kamal Haasan, speaking toward the end of the event, stated that he is, above all, a cinema lover. Reflecting on his struggles as a film producer, he also briefly touched on political matters. Kamal clarified that he runs his political party using his own funds and not to become the Chief Minister. He further revealed that only the television and OTT rights of 'Thug Life' have been sold, while the theatrical release will be handled solely by his own production company.

Wisdom passed from veteran to rising star

In a special moment, Kamal Haasan offered some advice to STR, calling him the “leader” who must guide the future generation. He acknowledged Silambarasan’s growth and told him to embrace his increasing responsibilities, not as a burden but as a joy. Kamal’s words served both as encouragement and a call to action for the younger actor. Capping off the night, Kamal Haasan surprised the audience by revealing his next move, a comedy film. He light-heartedly asked actor Nassar if he would join him in this new venture. With 'Thug Life' set to hit theaters on June 5, the event left fans excited, emotional, and full of anticipation.
