Actor and writer
Thambi Ramaiah has addressed the controversy surrounding the upcoming film 'TN 2026 Thanga Natchathiram.' The political comedy stars
Natarajan Subramaniam in the lead role and is directed by Umapathy Ramaiah, Thambi Ramaiah's son. After the teaser release, some people on social media claimed that the film indirectly targets Vijay and his political journey. Responding to the criticism, Thambi Ramaiah said the film was never meant to attack or insult anyone. He explained that the story was written with a political background, but with care to avoid hurting any individual or group.
Thambi Ramaiah clarifies the film's plot
Speaking at a press meet, Thambi Ramaiah made it clear that the movie is not a spoof or parody. As per Puthiya Thalaimurai, he said, “This is not a spoof film. It is about a mass hero who aims for political power even after gaining wealth and popularity.” According to him, the film focuses on humour and entertainment rather than political criticism. He added that the movie is packed with comedy scenes that will create enjoyable theatre moments. “It is a fun entertainer with a lot of hilarious moments and strong repeat value,” he said. The veteran actor also explained that he wrote the story based on his understanding of politics, as he comes from a family with political exposure.
Thambi Ramaiah says the script was written long before recent events
Thambi Ramaiah also clarified that the film was not inspired by recent political developments. He said the script was written nearly a year ago, and the film was completed two months ago. “The story of TN 2026 was written a year ago, and we finished the shoot two months back,” he said. He also pointed out that some recent political events seem similar to parts of the film, but that happened purely by coincidence. Speaking about Vijay’s political journey, he added, “Thalapathy Vijay did not enter politics in just one night. SAC sir is equal to 100 MLAs.” His comments were meant to highlight the long political background behind such decisions.
Thambi Ramaiah assures the film will not hurt anyone
The actor also said he respects Vijay and has worked with him in three films. “I have acted with Vijay in three movies, and many actors in this film have worked with him too,” he said. Thambi Ramaiah further explained that he has friends in several political parties. “I have brothers in DMK, AIADMK, NTK, and TVK,” he stated. He also made it clear that he would never create a film that harms someone, especially when his own son is directing it. “I will never push my son’s career into trouble,” he said. He assured that there is not even a small scene in the movie that would hurt anyone’s feelings and asked audiences to watch the film before judging it.
