Actor-filmmaker-producer Visu was a multi-talented star. He started his career as an assistant to veteran director K Balachander. Visu marked his debut as a director with the film 'Kanmani Poonga' and in his career spanning nearly four decades, he has delivered several family dramas and has won the hearts of the cinephiles through his work. Today marks the 76th birth anniversary of the late filmmaker-producer Visu, and on this occasion, let’s take a look at his five directorials that have reflected the problems of society and delivered valuable life lessons.

'Samsaram Adhu Minsaram'

'Samsaram Adhu Minsaram' tells the story of a joint family. The film delves deep into the kind of bonding the family members should have and also the responsibilities of elder ones in balancing the family. The film features Visu, Lakshmi, Chandrasekhar, Kishmu, Raghuvaran, Delhi Ganesh, Ilavarasi, Manorama, Madhuri, Kamala Kamesh, Dilip, and Haja Sheriff in main roles, and it had a theatrical run of more than 25 weeks.

'Manal Kayiru'

'Manal Kayiru' explores the journey of a young man, who has a certain perspective about the woman he marries. Despite having a clear idea of the woman he wants to marry, he gets tricked by his uncle and marries a woman, who does not fit his expectations. S. V. Sekhar and Shanthi Krishna played the main roles while Visu played a pivotal character.

'Penmani Aval Kanmani'

'Penmani Aval Kanmani' explains the different characteristics of women and the problems faced by them in daily life. Visu plays a crucial role in the film. He steps into the shoes of an elderly person and helps families and women to solve their problems. The film features Pratap Pothen, Seetha, and Visu in the main roles.

'Varavu Nalla Uravu'

'Varavu Nalla Uravu' revolves around two friends, who have different perspectives about wealth. The film features Visu, Annapoorna, Rekha, Vidhyashree, Kishmu, and Ilavarasan in main roles. The movie has bagged the Tamil Nadu State award, and it was remade in several South Indian languages.

'Neenga Nalla Irukkanum'

'Neenga Nalla Irukkanum' is a must-watch movie helmed by Visu and it says the story of a drunkard husband and his wife's struggle to turn him sober. The audience connected with the movie very much, as it reflected the lives of many families who were facing the same issue. The film features Nizhalgal Ravi and Bhanupriya in the lead roles, while Visu, Chandrasekhar, and Manorama were seen in supporting roles. The film also bagged the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues, and it was Visu's second National Award.
