Actor Karthi is now gearing up for the release of his new film ‘Sardar’ which is set to release in theatres on October 21, ahead of Diwali. Directed by PS Mithran, ‘Sardar’ is a spy thriller featuring Karthi and Raashi Khanna in the lead roles. With just 4 more days left for the film’s release, the actor is touring around the country for his film promotions.
Speaking at one of the promotional events, Karthi said ‘Sardar’ is an important film in his acting career. He said that the film gave him the opportunity to experiment with new getups. He noted that in the film industry, starting from the veteran actor Sivaji till his brother Suriya, have all tried taking up roles that involve a total getup change and added that it is important to make films with a different look.
Karthi also stated that ‘Sardar’ is being promoted as a spy thriller and added that the movie makers did not want to keep that as suspense because the film is much different from the movies that have been released so far. He also noted that the film is purely family-friendly and is not a spin-off of any Hollywood film.
On the work front, Karthi was last seen in the Tamil historic epic drama film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ which is a blockbuster hit of the year. ‘Sardar’ is the third film of the actor that is releasing this year. After ‘Sardar’, Karthi will be officially signing up for a movie with director Rajkumar Periasamy.
