#HBDGenelia: Five times Genelia impressed us with her performances

It is Genelia Deshmukh's birthday today and several of her friends from the fraternity are taking to their social media accounts to wish the actor and producer. The gorgeous actress began her film career in 2003 - making her Hindi debut with Tujhe Meri Kasam, and in Tamil with Shankar's Boys. Since then Genelia has been doing films in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Marathi. Be it her cute role as Hasini or the fierce Bharathi, Genelia has been the darling of masses. This was her debut film, a film that raised many eyebrows for its bold content, but also a movie that is remembered until today. Genelia as Harini is an interesting character. Apart from just coming across as a college girl, who falls for Munna (Siddharth), Harini shone as a singer, and as someone who stood for what's right and wrong. We can't miss writing about her spectacular dancing skills as well. This film truly opened doors for the pretty actress.

C'mon, let's be honest. How many of you all wanted a girlfriend like Shalini back then? She was cute, bubbly and sported a lovely smile throughout the film. If her scenes with Sachein (Vijay) was all about cute romance, her scenes with Ayyasamy (Vadivelu) made us laugh our hearts out. How could we miss the melodious Kanmoodi Thirakumbothu and the fun Gundu Maanga? Genelia aced both in the songs and in the film.

She wowed us with her performance in Sachein, no doubt. But let's all agree that Genelia as Hasini is the character we all fell in love with. The way she goes, "Ha Ha Hasini" made us all smile. Her character came across as fun and childish in the initial portions, but over time, Hasini's character goes through a transformation. She proved her caliber in the scene where she opens up to Santosh's (Jayam Ravi) family and walks out of the house. Hasini is sure etched in our hearts forever.

This film is a remake of the Telugu film Ready. This film had Dhanush and Genelia pairing up for the first time. Though it received mixed reviews from the critics, the film was a commercial success. A simple story, yet Genelia as Pooja handled the character with so much ease.

This was Genelia's second outing with Vijay after Sachein. Genelia played the role of a journalist named Bharathi. Though there is no romantic angle, she played an important role and comes throughout. In fact, it was her role that created the character named 'Velayudham'. Her acting was appreciated by many. This was her last Tamil film and we are waiting to see her make a comeback.
