Gautham Menon to H Vinoth: Five Tamil directors who had fanboy moments with their favourite stars

Many new filmmakers have been making a fresh start in the industry with a lot of dreams. Before making their debut directorials, the new talents develop themselves by working as assistants to leading directors or by doing several short films. But each one of them has had their own dream of doing a film with their favourite star. And it has turned out to be true for many in the past, and the directors also became more popular when they did a film with leading actors who have a great fan following. Here is a look at five Tamil directors from Gautham Menon to H Vinoth who had fanboy moments with their favourite popular stars.

Gautham Menon made his debut directorial with Madhavan's 'Minnale', and delivered a super hit film. The talented director then delivered a blockbuster cop drama 'Kaakha Kaakha' with Suriya. The film opened the gates for him in the industry, and he teamed with his favourite star Kamal Haasan for the cop drama 'Vettaiyadu Vilaiyaadu'. The double power turned the film to reach higher heights, and it is one of the best cop dramas in Tamil cinema till date.

Pa Ranjith - Rajinikanth

Pa Ranjith's debut directorial 'Attakathi' was a sleeper hit, and the film was critically acclaimed. But the director's second film ‘Madras’ which was a political action drama turned everyone's eye on him, and the film did great collections at the box office. He also received praise from Superstar Rajinikanth and bagged the opportunity of directing Rajinikanth's film. Pa Ranjith then worked for back to back films 'Kabali' and 'Kaala' with Superstar Rajinikanth.

Atlee - Vijay

After the impressive debut 'Raja Rani', Atlee was well appreciated, but at the same time, he was criticised for recreating scenes from old films. More surprisingly, Atlee teamed up with Vijay for his second directorial 'Theri', and the film received a great response. The huge success of the film led director Atlee to team up with Vijay for three continuous films as he was his favourite hero after all.
