5 Kollywood movies which are expected to bring back crowd in theatres )

The second wave of COVID-19 has witnessed a considerable decline in Tamil Nadu and many other states in India. Film buffs and exhibitors hope that the government will grand permission to open movie halls soon. Though there are concerns over whether audience will come back to theatres soon, there are a few big ticket flicks which have great potential to make cinephiles throng to movie halls. While a few of them are expected to release this year, a couple of them, it is expected that will arrive in early 2022.

Annaatthe

This rural flick, directed by Siva, starring none other than Superstar Rajinikanth, was announced as a Deepavali release (November 4, 2021) even before the onslaught of COVID-19 second wave began. Looks like the crew has no plans to change the release date even as a speculation of another biggie joining the race is doing the rounds. The star’s last outing was Darbar which released during 2020 Pongal season, and fans can’t wait to get a darisanam of their matinee idol. This is the first film of Rajinikanth to hit screens after the star had made it clear that he will not take a plunge into politics.

Valimai

The motion poster of this Ajith-starrer, which was released recently, was received with thunderous response from the star’s fans. The expectations riding on the film is so huge as it’s been quite some time since fans have seen their favourite star in a full-fledged action avatar. Though there are unconfirmed reports doing the rounds that the movie will have a theatrical release on Deepavali, the makers are yet to come up with an official announcement. Movie buffs are eagerly waiting to know if there would be a clash between films of Rajini and Ajith again.

Maanaadu

Though Simbu’s come back with Eeswaran earlier this year had opened to a lukewarm response, his fans have pinned high hopes on Maanaadu, which is billed as a stylish action thriller. The first look and second look posters and a teaser from the movie received positive response from fans and others alike. It is heard that the movie, the shooting of which was wrapped up recently, might hit screens on October, though makers are yet to make an announcement. With COVID-19 cases witnessing a drastic dip in Tamil Nadu, cinephiles hope that there will be an update soon from the makers.

5/6

Vikram

The Kamal Haasan-starrer, which went on floors recently, carries a lot of hype, thanks to its director Lokesh’s track record. A making video which was released on the occasion, featuring Kamal, Vijay Sethupathi and others went viral on social media and fans hope this is the much-needed comeback for the legend. The teaser of the movie which was released last year had escalated the film’s expectations among the actor’s fans. With big names including Fahadh Faasil on board, film enthusiasts are geared up to watch the movie on big screens soon.

Beast

Vijay, who is on a roll with back-to-back hits, has teamed up with Nelson Dilipkumar for an actioner, and the movie’s shooting has resumed recently after the government has granted permission for shooting. The first loo and second look posters from the movie, which were released on the star’s birthday, was lapped up by his hardcore fans as soon they were out on social media. Though other cast of the film, except Pooja Hegde who plays the female lead, hasn’t been announced by the makers, the project already has massive hype among trade circles.
