Aadhi is on cloud nine

After a brilliant performance in Eeram, Aadhi is on cloud nine. CT catches up with the actor for an exclusive...
Aadhi is on cloud nine
If his role in Mirugam scared women out of their wits, his performance in Eeram has made them adore him. No wonder then Aadhi, who plays the role of a diligent cop and a faithful lover in Eeram, is pleased.
Eeram has brought out another dimension of mine. That was my dream actually, says the actor, even as he begins listing the reasons for the movies success.
1x1 polls

The actor, who nurtured dreams of becoming a professional pilot and taking to the skies before entering the film industry, says, The understanding between cameraman Manoj Paramahamsa and director Arivazhagan was simply superb. In fact, if Arivazhagan had conceptualised something in mind, all he had to do was just glance at Manoj and he would know exactly what the director wanted and deliver. Thats because both of them were friends from the beginning.
Aadhi is delighted for one other reason apart from the movies success. And that is the fact that he chose to completely trust Arivazhagan and his abilitiy to make a class film.
Discloses the actor, Just before Eeram, I had three offers with one of them being Rajas character in Jaganmohini. That was the time the Eeram team had seen me and they were yet to finalise the cast. They had told me that Shankar sir wanted to take a look at the cast before finalising it. I told my dad that I had three offers but felt that I should wait for the Eeram team to get back to me before committing myself. My dad said, Do you know how difficult it is to get an offer? And are you going to saying no to three offers for a film that hasnt yet confirmed you? I chose to wait. By Gods grace, I was selected. If I had taken up one of the offers, they wouldnt have selected me for Eeram. I knew that I could count on Arivazhagan to deliver a hit. I believed in Arivazhagan and Shankar sirs company and here I am.

On his co-stars in Eeram
Nandha is basically a gentleman who is very silent. Sindhu Menon is very friendly. Shes a very experienced artiste who has won several awards. But when she did this project with us, she also became a newcomer. She had the same mindset as mine and I found it very comfortable working with her, he says. And when it comes to talking about Sharanya Mohan, the smile on his face widens and changes into laughter.
When I met Sharanya for the first time on the sets, I asked her the name of the school she was studying in and she got annoyed. Entha school padikiraenna? Entha college padikiraennu kelu? (What do you mean which school are you studying in? Ask me which college Im studying in?), he explains, still laughing and adds, I told her that one wouldnt be able to make out that she is a college student as she looks like a school kid. After regaining his composure, he says, We have become very good friends. That girl is now like a family member to me. In fact, she is like my sister.
On his current projects
Raj Kiran sir and Kalabhavan Mani sir are part of Sarithiram, which is almost over, he discloses. The movie, being directed by Samy sir, focusses on Silambattam, an ancient Indian martial art. Raj Kiran sir plays my dad in this film while Sridevika plays the female lead in the film, he informs.
Ayyanar, which is being produced by P L Thennappan, has an interesting cast. Bhanupriya maam plays my mother in the film while Meera Nandan plays the lead along with me. Santhanam plays Osama bin Laden and he takes care of the comedy factor, he says and adds, Although there have been several people who say that they want to see me in Eeram kind of roles, I also have been getting requests from a certain section who want to see me do Mirugam kind of roles. Ayyanar, Im hoping, will meet the expectations of these viewers.
