Deep Kalsi:I would love to collab with the guys from the underground scene - Exclusive

Punjabi turbanator Deep Kalsi is a famous name in the music world. He recently released ‘Yakeen Nahi’ a groovy melody, that tugged at the heartstrings in no time. Prior to that, his track ‘Ik Vaari’ turned heads. The artist understands his work, the gravity of the industry and even knows the beauty of rap. In fact he believes, that the Punjabi rap culture is growing at fast pace.


Here’s what he said when he sat for a candid conversation with ETimes

​“Now people need rap in their songs to compete it”

Sharing his view on the Punjabi rap, Deep said, “It’s growing so fast. You can find Punjabi rap in every other song. Back in the days it used to be the filler but now people need rap in their songs to compete it! It will grow more with time. It’s the takeover time.”

​The OG of Punjabi rap - Raftaar

When we asked Deep who according to him is the OG in the Punjabi rap world, he replied in a jiffy - “Raftaar bhai “no cap”!”

“The guy is from Kerala and does Punjabi, Hindi, Haryanvi rap. What else do you want from a person, Purely a OG! And the other guy who i think the OG in the game is Sikander Kahlon. Respect and love for that guy,” Deep added.

"I would love to collab with the guys from the underground scene"

We see a lot of collaborations in the music industry; thus, we asked Deep who is that one artist he wishes to join hands with and why. To this Deep said, “everybody takes the name of the person who is big in the scene always but I would love to collab with the guys from the underground scene because I know they will do wonders in the next few years. We will grow together. Hip-hop is all about unity”

​Deep Kalsi’s favourite rap

Towards the end of the conversation, we asked Deep about the rap that won his heart. He said,"I love that song pop some of the bandzo3rd boy from Karachi living in California. Love the cadence the tone and the real street talk in his voice.”
