Director-actor duos of Punjabi cinema who are known to create magic on screen

Different people with different ideas come together and work towards the success of any movie. It is the efforts of the entire team put together that determines the fate of the film. And some time when same set to people come together again and again to create the same magic on the silver screen, their team becomes their success mantra. Believe it or not, but in the Punjabi film industry, there are a few actors and directors who whenever pair up are known to give a commercially successful movie. Here we give you a rundown of some director-actor duos of Punjabi industry who create magic on screen every time they come together.

2/6

Anurag Singh and Diljit Dosanjh

The team of Anurag Singh and Diljit Dosanjh have given Punjabi cinema some blockbuster hits like ‘Jatt and Juliet’, ‘Jatt and Juliet 2’, ‘Punjab 1984’ and ‘Super Singh’. On one hand where the ‘Jatt and Juliet’ franchise was a rom-com, ‘Punjab 1984’ was a serious period drama. Though both of these hail from different genres, they were equally appreciated by both fans and critics. This clearly shows that if Diljit and Anurag come together, they will set the cash register ringing at the box-office for sure.

3/6

Smeep Kang and Gippy Grewal

Recently the box-office saw a record-breaking performance of a movie when director Smeep Kang and actor-singer Gippy Grewal came together for the second installment of ‘Carry On Jatta’. This director-actor jodi is known mostly to give mostly rom-com to the industry. However, it’s not like that the duo doesn’t like to experiment. Smeep Kang and Gippy Grewal also did a suspense thriller titled ‘Lock’, which was lauded by the audience. Not just this, Smeep was also the director of Gippy’s Bollywood debut film ‘Second Hand Husband’.

4/6

Simerjit Singh and Ammy Virk

Those who have seen ‘Nikka Zaildar’ certainly agree that whenever one talks about the director-actor duo, the name of Simerjit Singh and Ammy Virk is a must to the list. The team of Simerjit and Ammy gave us ‘Nikka Zaildar’ and ‘Nikka Zaildar 2’. The romantic-comedy did a great business at the box-office. Thus, the Punjabi cinema world wishes to see more work of these artists together.

5/6

Simerjit Singh and Amrinder Gill

Besides Ammy Virk, Simerjit Singh is known for teaming up with Amrinder Gill. With movies like ‘Daddy Cool Munde Fool’ and ‘Angrej’, the director-actor jodi proved that their work together is meant to raise the bar of Punjabi cinema. ‘Angrej’ is counted among one of the best works of Pollywood and without the vision of Simerjit Singh, it would not have gained this stature. At the same time, we can’t imagine anyone else than Amrinder to have essayed the lead role with such a finesse.

6/6

Ksshitij Chaudhary and Binnu Dhillon

Another director-actor jodi who is known to create magic on the big screen is of Ksshitij Chaudhary and Binnu Dhillon. They both gave Punjabi cinema blockbuster hit ‘Vekh Baraatan Challiyan’ and 'Mr. and Mrs. 420'. The movies were out and out comedy that did really well in the theatres. Those who have seen the movies will agree that when Ksshitij and Binnu come together, madness crosses all levels; and thus, the audience always enjoys the teamwork of these two.
