Happy Birthday Ammy Virk: 5 things we totally love about the Punjabi star

Punjabi star Ammy Virk has turned a year older today, and thus, celebrating him and his special day, we have curated a list of 5 things that we simply adore about the singer-actor. This list includes things that he has done on his personal and professional front; some of them have made the headlines, while some did not. Wish to know what they are? Just scroll down:

Never runs away from a challenge

Today Ammy Virk is seen rocking a perfect body. In fact, he also made six-pack abs for his movie ‘Harjeeta’. However, did you know that there was a time when Ammy Virk used to be on the heavier side of the weighing scale? Yes, back in 2016, Ammy Virk was among the cute chubby actors. But then, when he decided to do ‘Harjeeta’, he had to cut down all that extra kilos and it wasn’t easy. Many actors strongly felt that Ammy might not be able to get in shape ever, and he shocked them. Not just that, besides physical transformation, he practiced hockey for long hours, stayed with players in the camp, and made sure to do all his homework in order to get into the skin of the character.

Further, even for his Bollywood movies, Ammy Virk left no stone unturned. He worked on his Hindi, his skills and took every new project as a new challenge.

Never shies away from speaking his mind

Ammy Virk is one of the Punjabi stars who doesn’t shy away from speaking his mind on any subject. There have been times when celebrities have maintained a distance from topics of national interest or the things that appear controversial, but Ammy Virk isn’t one of them. He stood in solitude with the farmers and joined them in their rally.

Later, when his own movie ‘Qismat 2’ got caught in the controversy, as the makers of the film were reportedly not in favor of the farmers, Ammy Virk cleared the air. In every interview and live session, he told the audience that his movie was made and the contract was signed even before the farmer bills were introduced.

During the same time, his picture with Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Nupur Sanon went viral from the sets of ‘Filhall 2’, and it fueled the ongoing fire. Ammy came live on his social media handle and said that the picture was old and it is only his professional commitment that he had to fulfill. Deep in his heart, he still supports the farmers.

Never hesitates to say sorry

Saying sorry doesn’t make you less of a man, and Ammy Virk truly believes in that. A year back lyrics of the song ‘Qubool A’ from ‘Sufna’ were accused of hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslim community. Though these accusations came to light after 2 years of the movie and song release, Ammy Virk wrote a public apology. His note read - “My sincere apologies for being niece and hurting the sentiments of many by the lyrics of my Qubool A (released in 2020) I had no intention to hurt religious sentiments and I wish I was aware of the interpretation before putting those lyrics in the song. If I knew I would have never done it. We have taken down that song as soon as we realized how it could be interpreted which we were not aware of and changed the lyrics. May almighty forgive me and others involved in the song for not realizing it could be hurtful. Once again my sincere apologies”

Never backs down from doing public service

Ammy Virk believes in doing social service but doesn’t like to talk much about it. During the farmers’ movement, he sent out a lot of aid but never made it public. His close friend and Punjabi singer Maninder Buttar once in his interaction with us narrated an incident. He told us that he got a message from Virk saying that he wants to make some collections for the farmers, and send out things of daily necessities. However, before anyone could contribute, Ammy Virk himself sent out the supplies for the farmers and never uttered a word about it.

Never turns his back on his friends

His song ‘Zindabad Yaarian’ is not just a track, he lives by it. Everyone in the industry swears about Ammy Virk's friendship. Jagdeep Sidhu who is one of Punjab’s most renowned writer-directors, and Ammy’s close friend, once in a candid conversation told us that the actor motivates him to work more. Jagdeep said that he is a bit lazy with certain things, and if he would have gone with his things, then he and Ammy would have done hardly 5 or 6 movies, instead of 10. He also told us how Ammy Virk shows calmness and maturity in situations of disagreement.
