Vijay Chavan's Marathi movies you should not miss

Veteran actor Vijay Chavan was a versatile stage artist and a famous figure of Marathi film industry. He was the comedy superstar of the Marathi industry. He is well known for his role of Mavshi in the very popular drama 'Moruchi Mavshi'. He made his debut with the 'Vahini Chi Maya' in 1985. He was also honoured with the lifetime achievement award in 2017. The actor passed away at the age of 63 on 24 August 2018. Let's have a rundown on some of his unforgettable movies below

'Zapatlela'

'Zapatlela' is a Marathi horror movie directed by Mahesh Kothare. The story unfolds the story of a gangster 'Tatya Vinchu' whose soul is transferred into a doll through a mantra. This puppet is then all set to fulfill the gangster's cruel purposes. What happens when Tatya's soul tries to possess Laxmikant Berde and how he rescues himself is an interesting story to watch. Vijay Chavan as Havaldar Sakharam has done complete justice to the role with his amazing punches in the middle of the story. This movie was a complete entertainer.

'Pachhadlela'

'Pachhadlela', another horror drama by Mahesh Kothare, featured Bharat Jadhav, Shreyas Talpade, Laxmikant Berde, Vandana Gupte, Dilip Prabhawalkar and Vijay Chavan in lead roles. The story is about three colleagues in a bank who get posted in a village where they have to stay in a mansion that is said to be haunted by the spirits of the previous tenants. Bharat gets possessed by four of the spirits in the Wada who use him to fulfill their evil intentions. Vijay Chavan has played the role of the spirit of the trusted aide Kirkire of the owner Inamdar (Dilip Prabhawalkar). He became more popular with his dialogue 'Malak Malak' in the film. This movie was highly appreciated for its visual effects and was praised by the audience for the kind of the story and performances.

'Shreemant Damodar Pant'

Kedar Shinde's directorial 'Shreemant Damodar Pant' was a comedy-drama that starred Bharat Jadhav, Sunil Barve, Vijay Chavan, Mrunal Dusanis, Alka Kubal in prominent roles. The movie is an adaptation of the play by the same name which ruled the theatres. The story unfolds with that Wada gets transformed into a palace by 6 pm every evening when the spirit of the freedom fighter Shrimant Damodar Pant, and enters his grandson Damu's body (Bharat). When Bharat Jadhav and Vijay Chavan shared the screen space, a laughter riot was ensured. Vijay Chavan (Ganpat) plays the role of Bharat's father (Damu) to whom the Wada is rented. The spirit is in search of the lost map of treasure, will he be able to find the map and what all incidents take place during this is a fun watch.

'Mumbaicha Dabewala'

Manohar Sarvankar's directorial featured Vijay Chavan, Bharat Jadhav, Deepali Saiyyed, Smita Gondkar and Madhu Kambikar. The story revolves around Nama, a hardworking dabbawala from Mumbai. The film paints a vivid picture of the dabbawallas' intricate delivery system, their line of work and their unique numbering system. Vijay Chavan plays the role of Bharat's Mama aptly, giving a perfect dose of humor. The movie definitely deserves a watch.
