'Thackeray' trailer: Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s transformation into Balasaheb Thackeray is convincing

The much-awaited trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray is finally out. The film is a biopic based on the life of Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the late Shiv Sena supremo, and Amrita Rao as his wife, Meena Tai Thackeray.
The trailer begins with scenes of chaos situation and a voiceover. "He is the son of tiger and anyone who mess with this tiger, then there will be tremendous duplication" the voice booms, and we see shots of Nawaz as Thackeray, taking to the podium to deliver one of his famous speeches.
Going through the trailer, we can see glimpses of a young Thackeray who is shown fighting for his Marathi people for their rights.Controversially, the trailer also shows glimpses of the Babri Masjid demolition and its subsequent fallout.
'Thackeray' has been written by journalist and Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut and directed by Abhijit Panse and produced under the banner of Viacom 18. The film has been shot in Hindi and Marathi and will be dubbed in English as well. The film is slated to release on January 25, 2019.
