'Lapachhapi' to 'Mulshi Pattern'; Marathi movies to be remade in Bollywood

Marathi cinema has been often praised for its rich content and powerful storylines. The newcomers in the industry have effortlessly taken Marathi cinema to the next level with their heart touching and influential subjects. It has also influenced and inspired several filmmakers from the Bollywood industry to remake it in Hindi.

Here is a list of few Marathi films which are set to be remade in Bollywood.

Bollywood actress Nushrat Bharucha's upcoming horror film 'Chhori' is the Hindi remake of the hit Marathi horror film 'Lapachhapi' helmed by Vishal Furia, who also directed the original film 'Lapachhapi'.

The original Marathi version saw Pooja Sawant in the lead role. The film’s script was penned by Vishal Kapoor, who is also writing the script of 'Chhori'.

Ator-director Priyadarshan Jadhav's last released Marathi comedy-drama 'Choricha Mamla' did well at the box office. Now, as per the latest update, the 'Maska' star is set to make his Bollywood debut as a director with the remake of his Marathi film 'Choricha Mamla' in Hindi.

Pravin Tarde's 'Mulshi Pattern' is one of the blockbuster films of 2018 which resulted in talks for a Hindi remake. A remake has been planned to be released in 2021, titled 'Antim: The Final Truth' starring Ayush Sharma and Salman Khan.

Laxman Utekar's upcoming film 'Mimi' is based on the 2011 Marathi movie Mala Aai Vhhaychy!, a social drama. It stars Kriti Sanon, Sai Tamhankar, Pankaj Tripathi, Supriya Pathak and Manoj Pahwa, among others.

The original film 'Mala Aai Vhhaychy!' was helmed by lawyer-turned-filmmaker Samuruoddhi Porey. It starred Urmilla Kothare, Stacy Bee, Samruoddhi Porey, and Vivek Raut, among others.
