Early life and family


Kavya Madhavan was born on September 19, 1984 at Nileshwaram. She did her schooling from Nileshwaram GLP School and National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). She married Nishal Chandra in the year 2009 and shifted to Kuwait. But, within a year of marriage, she returned. In the year 2010, she filed for divorce and was finally granted divorce in the year 2011.

Kavya Madhavan is a trained classical dancer. She has received many accolades for her dancing talent. She even received the title of Kalathilakam on a district level youth festival. She underwent dancing training at her school. Even in many of her movies, she was given opportunity to showcase her dancing skills, which eventually became one of the highlights of the film.

Film career


Kavya Madhavan started her acting career as a child artist. Her first film was Pookkalam Varavayi directed by Kamal which released in the year 1991. She was just seven-year-old then. After this film, she appeared as a child artist in many other films. Some of them are Pavam I. A. Ivachan (1994), Parassala Pachan Payyannur Paramu (1994), Azhakiya Ravanan (1996), Oral Mathram (1997) and Bhoothakkannadi (1997).


Her first full-fledged role as leading actress was opposite actor Dileep in the film Chandranudikkunna Dikhil directed by Lal Jose that released in the year 1999. After that there was no turning back for the actress. She made a mark in the Malayalam film industry with some memorable roles. Some of her hits include Thenkasipattanam (2001), Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan (2002), Meesa Madhavan (2002), Thilakkam (2003), Perumazhakkalam (2004), Kochi Rajavu (2005), Ananthabhadram (2005), Classmates (2006), Vellaripravinte Changathi (2011) to name a few.

Her memoirs and other ventures


In the year 2013, Kavya Madhavan published her memoirs in Mathrubhumi books and it was named Kathayil Alpam Kavyam. The book covered the occasions of her childhood, school days and few glimpses of her in the film industry. The book was released at Kozhikode, with writers Subhash Chandran and Deedi Damodaran being the guest of honours.
