Vishu, the Malayalam New Year is finally here. This year Vishu falls on April 15, and Keralites and Malayalis worldwide celebrate the day with enthusiasm and vigour. From waking up to the sight of Vishu Kani to elders gifting Vishu Kainneettam to their family and loved ones, indulging in delectable Sadhya, Vishu is a joyous occasion for us. Well, celebrations demand lots of music and fun. Here are some of the Vishu songs you can tune into, without which we bet your celebrations would look incomplete!

​Chethi Mandaaram Thulasi​

Vishu festivities begin with all the family members beginning their day with the vision of Vishu Kani. The sight is said to present you with a prosperous year ahead. And the song ‘Chethi Mandaaram Thulasi’ from the 1969 film ‘Adimakal’ is all Vishu Kani. The song composed by G Devarajan and the lyrics were written by Vayalar Ramavarma. P Susheela has sung the stunning song.

Kanikaanum

Yet another song about Vishu Kani, and that too is composed by G Devarajan and penned by Vayalar Ramavarma. The song from the 1962 film ‘Omanakuttan’ is sung by P Leela, and, Renuka. And it is undoubtedly a song you must tune into on this Vishu festivity.

Mouliyil Mayilpeeli

One of the most loved songs devoted to Lord Krishna, ‘Mouliyil Mayilpeeli’ is from the film ‘Nandanam’. Written by Gireesh Puthenchery and composed by Madhavan Raveendran, the song is crooned by KS Chithra.

Medaponnaniyum

Vishu falls on the first day of the Malayalam month of Medam. And the song ‘Medaponnaniyum’ from Devasuram celebrated the same. The song is composed in the Kadanakuthuhalam raga. Composed by MG Radhakrishnan and penned by Gireesh Puthenchery, the song is penned by MG Sreekumar, and Minmini.

‘Kalabham Tharam’ song from ‘Vadakkumnadhan’ is a perfect song to tune into on a Vishu day. The song is composed by Raveendran, and the lyrics were penned by Gireesh Puthenchery. Well, you can thank us later.
