The week that was! Ann Augustine to Nayanthara, M-Town celebs who made headlines

The Onam week was quite incredible for the Keralites as well as the Malayalam cinema. On Chingam 1, the Kerala New Year, a few Malayalam films started the shoot, and few new projects were announced. From Ann Augustine announcing her re-entry to Nayanthara confirming her engagement with fiancé Vignesh Shivan, here’s a list of celebrities who made headlines in M-Town this week.

Prithviraj Sukumaran signed yet another movie this week. The actor signed in to play one of the lead roles in ‘Kaapa’. The film is made by FEFKA’s Writers Union and has Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Asif Ali, and Anna Ben in lead roles. The film is helmed by filmmaker Venu and GR Indugopa has scripted the movie. The film is set against the backdrop of the KAAPA (The Kerala Anti-social Activities (Prevention) Act), otherwise known as the 'Goonda Act' in Kerala.

Ann Austine has recently announced her re-entry into movies, after a gap of four years. This time, the diva is entering as an actor and a producer. “On the cusp of a new journey as Miramar Films and I take our first steps into producing feature films and I return to my roots and familiar places as an actor Starting off once again is not easy but thanks to Gods grace and to you all for being with me & showering me with love, support, prayers, and blessings,” Ann Augustine shared on her social media handle.

On Chingam 1 (August 17), Mammootty kickstarted the shoot of his upcoming film ‘Puzhu’. The movie is directed by debutant Ratheena and has Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothu in the lead roles. The team went on floors and Mammootty’s pictures from the sets went viral on the internet for all right reasons.

Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming film ‘12th Man’ too went on the floors on August 17. The upcoming film has Mohanlal in the lead role and the makers have begun the first schedule. Mohanlal will be joining the team later on.

Nayanthara once again made headlines this week for her engagement with beau Vignesh Shivan. The actress appeared as a guest on a Tamil channel and confirmed getting engaged to filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. The actress also shared that her family wanted to keep the engagement function private and added that she would let her fans know about the wedding.
