Scriptwriter
Syam Pushkaran has been hailed as one of the most exciting scribes in Malayalam cinema right now – with him penning the scripts of Maheshinte Prathikaram, Mayaanadhi and also the latest release, Kumbalangi Diaries.
Syam, however, started his career as an assistant director before making it big with his script of Salt N’ Pepper, which was directed by
Aashiq Abu and co-scripted by Dileesh Nair.
In an interview to a radio station, Syam had said, “We gave our first formal narration of a script to
Lijo Jose Pellissery. It was for Salt N’ Pepper and he really liked it. He said he can do it a year. But back then, we didn’t have that much time.” The movie, which starred Lal, Shwetha Menon and Asif Ali, was directed by Aashiq Abu and went on to be a superhit.
