Scriptwriter
Syam Pushkaran has been hailed as one of the most exciting scribes in Malayalam cinema right now – with him penning the scripts of Maheshinte Prathikaram, Mayaanadhi and also the latest release,
Kumbalangi Diaries
.
Syam, however, started his career as an assistant director before making it big with his script of Salt N’ Pepper, which was directed by
Aashiq Abu and co-scripted by Dileesh Nair.
In an interview to a radio station, Syam had said, “We gave our first formal narration of a script to
Lijo Jose Pellissery. It was for Salt N’ Pepper and he really liked it. He said he can do it a year. But back then, we didn’t have that much time.” The movie, which starred Lal, Shwetha Menon and Asif Ali, was directed by Aashiq Abu and went on to be a superhit.
