Roshan Mathew plays an impulsive youngster in 'Kothu'

Director Siby Malayil has wrapped up the shoot of his latest film Kothu, starring Roshan Mathew and Asif Ali in the main roles. The project, which has Hemanth Kumar as the scribe, is an emotional drama set in Kannur.

While it was earlier revealed that Asif’s character in the film is a politician from Kannur, Hemanth tells us more about Roshan’s role, named Sumesh. “Roshan’s character is the friend of Shalu, played by Asif Ali. Their friendship takes the film’s narrative forward. His character Sumesh, a complete village boy, is an impulsive youngster, who is ready to do anything for the party, including crimes. There is an archaic sense of innocence, too, in him,” says Hemanth, who reveals that the emotional drama is set in a village in north Malabar, which is mired by numerous political issues, in the story.
He explains further, “For Sumesh, what counts as a ‘blood relation’, as opposed to how common people perceive it, is the bonds formed out of the various incidents in which he plays with blood for the party. The movie also delves into the personal lives and romance of men like him.”

The dubbing and shooting of the movie was over a while ago. Nikhila Vimal is the female lead of the movie, which also has Vijilesh, Suresh Krishna and Sreelakshmi in major roles. While Kailas Menon has composed the songs, Jakes Bejoy has done the background score. Rathin Radhakrishnan is the editor and Prasanth Raveendran is the cinematographer.
