Ranjith will not screen Njan at IFFK
The International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) is never short of controversies. We hear that ace director Ranjith will not be screening his latest release, Njan, at the fest. Apparently, the director is miffed that his film has not been selected for the competition section of IFFK, which will be held in Thiruvananthapuram from December 12 to 19.
The authorities have listed the Dulquer Salmaan starrer, which is based on T P Rajeevan’s novel K T N Kottur Ezhuthum Jeevithavum, under the Malayalam Cinema Today section.

However, the director is not happy with this decision and he wants them to include his film in the competition section. Since that is not happening, Ranjith has decided not to screen his movie at the festival.
When we contacted Ranjith, he said, “Njan did not qualify for the competition section and I don’t want it to be featured in Malayalam Cinema Today. Yes, I have decided to withdraw my film’s screening at the fest.” However, the director is quick to add that he is not against Chalachithra Academy, the organisers of the fest, or the jury. “I do not have any complaints. I am accepting their decision,” he added.
Meanwhile, the critically acclaimed film, Munnariyippu, co-produced by Ranjith and directed by National Award winner Venu, also failed to get an entry at the fest.
