Prithviraj Sukumaran-Amal Neerad’s film ‘Anwar’ to re-release: Report

It’s the season of re-releases and Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer ‘Anwar’ too is gearing up for a re-release. The film helmed by Amal Neerad, and released in 2010 is reportedly returning to the silver screen.

According to several reports online, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Anwar’ will re-release in theatres on October 18, in 4K format. The film is said to be re-releasing in both Malayalam and Tamil languages. If reports are to be believed, ‘Anwar’ will be hitting the theatres during the birthday weekend of its lead actor Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Directed by cinematographer-turned-director Amal Neerad, the plot of 'Anwar' is inspired by the 2008 American film ‘Traitor’. Written and directed by Amal Neerad, 'Anwar' has Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. The film also has actors Prakash Raj, Mamtha Mohandas, and Lal in supporting roles. ‘Anwar’ Nithya Menen, Geetha, Sai Kumar, Sampathy Raj, Sudheer Karamana, Salim Kumar, Vinay Forrt, and Shane Nigam in the supporting roles. The film revolves around the fight against terrorism.

The Malayalam version of ‘Anwar’ is available on Amazon Prime and Disney+ Hotstar. The Tamil version is available on Sun NXT and the Telugu version on Zee5.

On the technical front, the cinematography of ‘Anwar’ is done by Satheesh Kurup. The editing is done by Vivek Harshan. Gopi Sundar has composed the music. The songs from the film, especially ‘Kizhakku Pookkum’ and ‘Kanninima Neele’ were well received by the audience.

Meanwhile, Anwar Rasheed is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming film ‘Bougainvillea’ starring Kunchacko Boban, Jyothirmayi, and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles. The film is slated for release on October 17.
