, where he scored a century from 37 balls, against Mumbai team.

Most recently, he won a word of appreciation from Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly as well. Sharing a photo of the cricketer on his page, Nivin said, ‘What a knock from you Mohammed Azharuddeen!!!

Azharuddeen has been in the circuit for the past six years. A wicketkeeper-batsman, Azharuddeen made it to Kerala’s first-class side in 2015 and has been quite a consistent performer since. The cricketer took a total of 137 runs at the match against Mumbai. He remained not out and Kerala defeated team Mumbai by eight wickets. This is the first T20 century by a Kerala player in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Before this, Rohan Prem had scored 92 runs against Delhi in 2012 - 2013 at Indore. Azharuddeen’s is also the second highest score in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, so far.

A day earlier, Kerala cricketer S Sreesanth, who was back after a seven-year ban, had also performed well and won a wicket. He had dismissed Puducherry’s Fabid Ahmed in his second over and even resorted to his characteristic wicket celebration too, with open arms. The bowler had finished with respectable figures of 1-29 in four overs while Jalaj Saxena took three wickets with his off-spin to suck the momentum out of Puducherry’s innings and set up Kerala’s win by six wickets.
