It was an eventful week for the Malayalam cinema. From the industry reaping gold at the 67th National Film Awards to Mohanlal making headlines for ‘Barroz’, here’s who made headlines in M-Town this week.

Priyadarshan’s upcoming film ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ made it big at the 67th National Film Awards. The period drama was selected as the best feature film. The movie also won the award for best special effects, which was done by Siddharth Priyadarshan, and also for best costume design, which was handled by Sujith Sudhakaran and V Sasi. ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ is directed by popular filmmaker Priyadarshan and he definitely made headlines this week for all right reasons. The film is yet to be released and features Mohanlal in the role of Kunjali Marakkar IV.

Following the announcement of the National Film Awards, Mohanlal launched his upcoming film ‘Barroz’. The actor who has been in the industry for the past 43 years will be donning the cap of a filmmaker for the first time with ‘Barroz’. The 3D film is based on a story by Jijo Punnoose, the filmmaker who has credits for making the first 3D film in India - ‘My Dear Kuttichathan.

Sunny Leone to star in a multi-lingual movie! Titled ‘Shero’, the film is a psychological thriller helmed by Sreejith Vijayan. Sunny Leone flew down to Kochi to launch the film. The film will be made in all South Indian languages - Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The team will start rolling by mid-April. The team will start rolling by mid-April.

Wedding bells are ringing for ‘Vimanam’ actress Durga Krishna. The actress announced her wedding with Arjun H Ravindran, a film producer, and entrepreneur. The lovey-dovey couple will tie the knot on April 5. The Holi-themed pre-wedding shoot of the couple also grabbed headlines this week.
