‘Malayalee From India’ box office collection day 16: Nivin Pauly’s film earns Rs 3 lakh on Thursday

Nivin Pauly's latest release, ‘Malayalee From India' saw a relatively modest net collection of Rs 3 lakh in India on Thursday, May 16, according to a report by Sacnilk. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film experienced a notable drop in box office performance on Thursday, as two new Malayalam films - 'Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil' and ‘Sureshinteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hridayahariyaya Pranayakatha’ hits the big screens on May 16. This new releases has likely contributed to the reduced traction for 'Malayalee From India,' as audiences were presented with additional choices at the box office. It is worth noting that on Wednesday, the film had minted Rs 7 lakh, which is solid considering the film has already entered the third week.

Helmed by Dijo Jose Antony, ‘Malayalee From India’ has Nivin Pauly, Dhyan Sreenivasan, and Anaswara Rajan in the lead roles.

ETimes rated the film 3 out of 5 and wrote, “Dijo Jose Antony's Malayalee From India is a well intentioned film with the makings of something that could have done wonders in terms of political commentary or even addressing the root of some of the social issues. But, somewhere the control over the story and the scale of it is lost, leading to an underwhelming climax which was more for the gallery than anything. That said, Nivin Pauly has once again given a good performance which was wild and unhinged when necessary and grounded when that was required. The message of the film is clear but it goes to deliver it in such a roundabout way that one would feel like they watched two different films.”
