'Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra' box office collections day 16: Kalyani Priyadarshan’s film crosses Rs 105 cr

Kalyani Priyadarshan’s superhero venture 'Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra' continues its strong run at the box office, even as it enters its third week.


On its 16th day, the film added another Rs 3.85 crore (early estimates) to its total. This has pushed the domestic tally to Rs 105.55 crore across all languages.

Malayalam audience drives consistency

According to the Sacnilk website, the biggest boost for 'Lokah' continues to come from Malayalam cinema halls, where the film registered an overall occupancy of 42.95% on Friday, September 12. From 17.93% during morning shows to 72.84% at night.

The Malayalam version has contributed more than Rs 78 crore to the total. Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi markets have played a supportive role.

Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas' characters officially announced

As 'Lokah' sails past the Rs 105 crore mark, the makers have hinted at bigger things to come. The makers unveiled posters on the last day, introducing two major stars to the franchise—Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas. Dulquer will step in as Charlie, while Tovino takes on the role of Michael. The movie is getting heavy positive reviews from the audience for its stunning storytelling, visuals, and magnificent performances. Dominic Arun's directorial was mounted on a mere Rs 30 crore budget. With terrific reviews and good occupancy rates, 'Lokah' is expected to mint more numbers in the coming days. Meanwhile, Kalyani Priyadarshan also has the recently released Fahadh Faasil starrer 'Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira' which is running in theatres. Unfortunately the movie is getting mixed reviews.
