Kerala HC orders probe into alleged leak of assault videos in actress abduction case

The Kerala High Court has taken a decisive step, ordering a thorough investigation into the alleged leak of assault videos related to the Malayalam actress abduction case.


Despite the videos being securely stored on a memory card under the court's custody during the trial proceedings, concerns arose over their unauthorized release.


The distressing visuals, which were said to have been leaked, prompted the court to take action upon the plea of the actress involved in the case.

Supported by a forensic report substantiating her concerns, the High Court directed a district judge to conduct a comprehensive probe into the matter, demanding a report within a month.

However, actor Dileep who is involved in the case strongly opposed this move. The court's directive empowered the district judge to seek expert guidance from law enforcement or other relevant sources to facilitate the investigation.

Additionally, the court emphasized the initiation of proper criminal proceedings against anyone who is suspected of tampering with the memory card.

Meanwhile, This case dates back to 2017 when a leading South Indian actress, revealing her identity subsequently, reported being abducted and subjected to sexual assault by a group of assailants who filmed the heinous act to extort her.

The arrest and interrogation of the primary accused, Sunil, led to allegations implicating Dileep as the mastermind behind the incident. Subsequently, Dileep was arrested and spent several weeks in jail before being released on bail.
