I had to be very intimate with nature to work in Badal, says Gayathri Suresh
In the upcoming film Badal, actress
“My character’s name is Zaina Wahab Mohammed, and she loves everything about nature and forest,” says Gayathri. She continues, “Zaina goes to the forest to understand the life of people and the movie goes on to show her experiences and more from the same.” Badal, directed by Ajayan, was shot in Wayanad, Munnar, Rajakkad, Ernakulam and more.
Gayathri reveals that she to be quite intimate with nature to work in Badal. “There was a lot of trekking, working closely with everything from insects to thorns. I am sure there were even snakes in close proximity but the work had to be done regardless of it all,” she says.
Last year, she debuted in Telugu too and starred in two films, Hero Heroine and Nenu Leni Naa Premakadha, with actor Naveen Chandra. The films were wrapped up by December and were to hit the screens this year, though Covid – 19 restrictions have delayed them. Gayathri says, “I can now understand Telugu, and can speak a bit too. I have taken up one more film there and if all goes well, we should start with its shoot in November.” She also has a Malayalam movie titled Mahi, which is completed.
At a time in which many actors are busy picking up skills other than acting, thanks to the extra time at hand due to hardly any shoots due to the restrictions, Gayathri says she polished her cooking skills. “Every day, I make the curry for the chapathi at dinner, at home. So, I have been exploring a number of recipes that go well with chapathi and can safely say I have at least learnt 10 recipes,” she says, with a smile.
