From earning applause for delivering firebrand dialogues to becoming an irreplaceable actor to don the garb of a cop onscreen, Suresh Gopi is the action king of M-Town. Although the star is popularly known for playing fearless police officers on screen, he has proved numerous times that he can handle all genres of film alike.

The name Suresh Gopi resonates with the genre ‘action’. The actor has an irresistible persona, that is fitting for a fearless police officer, who stands by the people and truth. ‘Commisioner’ directed by Shaji Kailas and penned by Renji Panicker presented Suresh Gopi as Bharathchandran IPS, the city police commissioner. The cinephiles could never forget the brave face who dared to ask, “Oramayundo Ee Mukham (Do you remember this face).” From the gutsy dialogues to the high octane action, the film made the cinephiles and the box office numbers go gaga.

Well, if you think Suresh Gopi can only don the angry young man roles, you are mistaken. And here's proof that he could handle hilarious roles with charm! Directed by Jose Thomas, the 2001 film ‘Sundara Purushan’ featured Suresh Gopi as Surya Narayanan, a struggling musician who does odd jobs to feed his family. Although the movie has depicted mental illness in poor light, Suresh Gopi’s performance was unarguably great. His performance surely tickled the funny bones of the audience.

Suresh Gopi was surely one of the stars in Malayalam cinema who brought some big box office numbers. His cop thrillers and action movies turned out to be blockbusters. But Suresh Gopi has always made sure to strike a balance between commercial and arthouse films. Suresh Gopi showcased an exceptional performance in the 1997 film ‘Kaliyattam’. The film was helmed by Jayaraj and was an adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Othello. Suresh Gopi played Kannan Perumalayan, a Theyyam artist in the film. The film is filled with dramatic moments and Suresh Gopi was able to fulfill them with sheer perfection. He won the National Award for best actor for his performance in ‘Kaliyattam’.

Suresh Gopi has acted in many thrillers, action thrillers majorly, and one of his best is ‘The Tiger’. The film is directed by Shaji Kailas and written by B Unnikrishnan. Suresh Gopi roped in to play the lead role of Chandrasekhar IPS aka Tiger. Chandrasekhar is in charge of a murder investigation. The film is intriguing and gives the edge of the seat entertainer. Suresh Gopi delivered some incredible dialogues and also performed well.

Although ‘Manichithrathazhu’ was a thriller, the cinephiles got to watch the romantic track between Ganga (Shobana) and Nakulan (Suresh Gopi). Nakulan was head over heels in love with his wife Ganga. And we saw the extent he went for his lady love. The star has portrayed romance many times on screen and one can also see its intensity in the film ‘Innale’.
