On the last day the Producers Association released movie collection figures in Mollywood and this has received much mixed responses. These figures showed some films as super hits and some as just hits.'Narivetta' sirector Anuraj Manohar openly spoke against the Producers Association via a Facebook post. Now, Suresh Gopi's 'JSK' director Praveen Narayanan has come forward to support Anuraj.

Praveen Narayanan raises questions

Taking to Facebook, Praveen clearly asked the Producers Association to explain their method. He wrote, “It would be good if the Producers Association clearly explained the criteria behind releasing these figures.” He gave a simple example. “Empuraan is a super hit, while Echo is just a hit.” He pointed out that if the budget and collection details shared by tracking pages are true, then Eko has made much more profit than 'Empuraan'. Still, 'Eko' is marked only as a hit. This made him question the logic behind the list.

Missing films and sudden silence

Praveen also spoke about how the Association handled the numbers during the year. He wrote that earlier this year, figures were released for a few months. Then one fine morning, it was stopped.
Now, at the end of the year, annual figures are released.

He also said that tracking pages accepted by many producers showed 'Narivetta' and 'Sumathi Valavu' in the hit list. But these films are missing from the Association’s list. This, according to him, adds more doubt.

Cinema is hard work and business

Praveen strongly reminded everyone that cinema is a business. Films earn money not only from theatres but also from other sources. He wrote that releasing a list showing only a few films as successful will mislead people. This is especially true for new investors entering cinema. He said a list without film budgets and profit details outside theatres can push people away from cinema.Quoting Anuraj, Praveen wrote, “Every film is a struggle. No one was lifted up by holding their hand. Only worn-out shoes and sweat-soaked shirts stand as witnesses.”He ended by saying, “You may choose to ignore the hard work, but do not trample on it.”
