The thrill of being an actor lies in experimenting: Nidhi Hegde
With two films - Neeli Hakki and Dollu - having gained acclaim at International film festivals, Nidhi Hegde tells us she is chalking out her acting career with extra care. While she was last seen in Shivaji Surathkal 2, she feels the thrill of being an actor lies in experimenting with roles on screen.
“Both these characters are an embodiment of a high spirited woman, sans makeup too. For instance, I played a mother to a 10-year-old in Neeli Hakki, which was like a coming-of-age character. It was a challenging role, but the clarity in writing made me get into the character with ease. However, the bigger challenges were to focus on body language as well as the dialogue delivery, as we shot on sync sound on the set. There was no option of correcting anything in that department in the dubbing studio later,” says Nidhi.
Of picking up roles, Nidhi tells, “I have been part of a couple of short films before and that is probably what paved the way for my substantial roles in these critically acclaimed films. However, my main goal is not to get typecast. I am looking to play characters that are versatile - irrespective of the screen time that it offers me.”
Coming up next, Nidhi tells us she is excited about her role in a film called RRND, which is being directed by Ranga. “The plot of the movie touches upon the conflict between the common man and the police system which shows how an oppressed citizen fights against the system, in that I play the role of a girl who migrates to city and within the span of a few hours, her life turns upside down that leaves in a state of shock,” she tells us.
