She may have been missing from the big screen for a while now, but Neethu will soon be seen in the role of an actress in the upcoming Abhinetri. The film, which is said to be based on the life of 70s heroines and stars Pooja Gandhi in the lead, will see Neethu playing Pooja’s rival. The role is a cameo and word is that it was offered to a few other actors before Neethu came on board.
“Since the film features an established actress like Pooja, the girls felt their cameo would go unnoticed and that it wouldn’t be a wise move to do the role,” says a source.
Neethu, though, says that she felt no such apprehension. “As artists, we play many characters. But it’s not often that we get to play ourselves. I enjoyed playing a 70s heroine,” says the actress. Neethu’s cameo will have her sharing screen space with Pooja and their scenes were shot at the premises of the late actor Sudhir’s drama company. “It was fun sporting beehive buns and high-waisted langa-dhavani. Besides, Pooja and I have done many shows together and share a good rapport,” wraps up Neethu.
