After playing side roles before, with a huge struggle, Darshan got his first break in 'Majestic'. Though the storyline is beaten to death like how one orphan gets into a gangster world but society doesn't accept him when he wants to reform and eventually leading to his death. The freshness Darshan bought in his acting made a difference in the film and showed what a promising hero he possessed to be and didn't look back from 'Majestic'.

‘Namma Preethiya Ramu’ is a tragedy and experimental movie. The movie had two directors Sanjay and Vijay. This is a remake of the Malayalam movie ‘Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum’ and it went on to become a super hit movie in Kannada also. Darshan made the audience melt heavily with his tear-jerking performance as a blind man loved by an entire place. Darshan worked hard to do the role of a blind man very realistically and got huge appreciation.

In 'Kariya', we get to see the love angle of Darshan as a rugged ruffian. Prem who made his debut as a director in 'Kariya' showed the vulnerable side of Darshan's performance which was not explored by any director since then and how fantastic Darshan can live in the role of a person torn between love and rowdyism.

With 'Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna', Darshan tried his hands on period drama for the first time portraying the character of the freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna, a freedom fighter known for his bravery during the British Raj. This film is considered as one of the remarkable performances of Darshan where he gave his sweat and blood in doing the role fantastically and giving the audience goosebumps with his fiery dialogues and received great appreciation from critics and audiences alike. It became a blockbuster in the Kannada Film Industry.

'Kurukshetra' is a very special film in Challenging Star Darshan’s career and the hearts of his fans as it marks the actor’s 50th Kannada film. This mythological film is made from the view of Duryodhana who has always been perceived as an antagonist. Darshan did a fantastic job in the titular role, Duryodhana. His finesse and flawless dialogue delivery have not only emotionally connected well with the audience but also left them in awe seeing the way Darshan enacted his role with so much dedication and perfection.
