From ‘Puneeth Rajkumar’ to ‘Samyukta Hornad’: Celebrities for Kannada film industry help Coronavirus Crisis

The lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic has affected the daily wage workers, homeless and animals in the worst way as they have been struggling to get food and water for survival. Just like other people, even the celebrities from the Kannada film industry have come forward to help the needy. Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar is one of the most prominent actors in the Kannada film industry. The actor who always does social work has come forward to help people during the Coronavirus crisis. He has donated Rs 50 lakh to the Karnataka Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Recently, he met CM BS Yeddyurappa in person and handed over the cheque to support people in need.

Sumalatha Ambareesh, who is an actress-turned politician, is a member of the parliament and has donated Rs 2 lakh for both, the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as well as to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. She has also granted Rs 50 lakh from the MP fund to purchase ventilators and other equipment for Mandya district to fight Coronavirus. She is monitoring the situation in Mandya about Coronavirus during the lockdown.

The Kannada film industry has stopped all the shooting and works because of the lockdown. This has made film workers lose their bread and butter. Nikhil Kumaraswamy has recently announced that he will help cinema workers and has now donated Rs 31,67,000 for light boys, fighters, unit boys, make-up artists, co-dancers and others. He has also donated Rs 5 lakh for television workers. He has provided financial support to a total of 18 unions, including the All Karnataka Cini Stunt Director & Stunt artist Association, Karnataka Film Producers Welfare Fund, Production Assistants Association, Film Light Man Association, Karnataka Film Support Artists Association and others.

Actor Shivarajkumar always comes forward in helping people. During the present Coronavirus crisis, the actor has collaborated with a Bangalore-based NGO to help daily wage workers who don't have food to eat because of the lockdown. He is also creating a lot of awareness through social media and requesting people to help those in need.

Actress Samyukta Hornad, who is an animal lover, is building a team in Bangalore to feed street dogs. She is raising donations in terms of money and animal food to feed the strays. Samyukta has also started a WhatsApp group, which has more than 100 members in the group to help animals. She is also planning to do this until the lockdown is in force. The actress has also requested people to feed the dogs and street animals, as they depend only on us for food.
